Deborah Bridges is a professional sculptor with over 36 years of experience, exhibiting and selling her work at art festivals and galleries throughout her career. Her figurative work, primarily centered on the feminine form, uses the human body as a powerful and immediate vessel for connection—both deeply familiar and richly expressive.
For the past 14 years, she has also taught figurative ceramic sculpture while continuing to create work in stone, bronze, cement, and clay. She is represented by Bronze Coast Gallery in Cannon Beach, Oregon, and Epperson Gallery in Crockett, California.
“When I immerse myself in a body of work, I begin with a theme that is quietly pulling at me. Each series becomes a slow unfolding—something I stay with until I feel I have followed it as far as I can for now.
Lately, that exploration has been the feminine—both within myself and within our culture. I am less interested in looking back at histories of oppression than in sensing what could be emerging. Through mythic female figures, I work with symbols of intuition, receptivity, stillness, groundedness, and the capacity to hold.
My art is a personal journey made public only because visual art asks to be seen. I hope what I share can touch something in the viewer. My intention is to simply share my experience.
As I deepen my own relationship with the qualities I understand as feminine, I imagine a future in which feminine and masculine energies are honored equally—each essential to the wholeness of our humanity. This body of work is my way of giving shape to that possibility.
My sculptures draw on archetypal and mythological figures—images that already live deeply in our collective imagination. Myth endures because it expresses something fundamental about being human.
