Deborah Bridges is a professional sculptor with over 34 years of experience, exhibiting and selling her work at art festivals and galleries throughout her career. Her figurative work, primarily centered on the feminine form, uses the human body as a powerful and immediate vessel for connection—both deeply familiar and richly expressive.
For the past 14 years, she has also taught figurative ceramic sculpture while continuing to create work in stone, bronze, cement, and clay. She is represented by Bronze Coast Gallery in Cannon Beach, Oregon, and Epperson Gallery in Crockett, California.
“When I am immersed in a body of work—such as Unremembered Wings, Persona, or Buddha—I work from a narrative or theme that I am personally exploring. Each series becomes a journey of investigation, shaped by meaning, memory, and personal discovery. I continue working within a theme until I feel it has been fully explored in my own life, at which point I move on to the next.
As a ceramic artist and teacher, I believe that the more technology becomes woven into our lives, the more meaningful handmade objects become. Working with clay asks us to slow down, pay attention, and embrace patience, intuition, mistakes, and the unexpected. Every mark, curve, and imperfection becomes part of a piece’s story — a trace of the human hand that makes it unique. While technology can create endless possibilities, handmade work carries something different: the presence, care, and creativity of the person who made it.
